Active Exhaust System

Description[edit]

Low-restriction performance exhaust systems are typically louder than normal exhaust systems. The AES feature allows the driver to make the exhaust note quieter when desired via a switch in the cockpit.

When the AES switch is in Sport mode, the green AES dash indicator will not be illuminated. The exhaust valving is such that the exhaust system is in its lowest restriction mode.

When the AES switch is in Tour mode, the green AES dash indicator will be illuminated. The exhaust valving is such that the exhaust system is muffling the exhaust as much as possible. Above 3500 RPM, the ECU will automatically change the valving to normal, low-restriction mode for better performance.

The system consists of a special dual-chamber muffler, exhaust valve, valve actuator, engine speed sensor and the electronic control unit.
