There are many reasons why you might want to disable your ABS system. The anti lock brakes on the 3000GT/Stealth's are widely recognized as being fairly lousy and the parts for the anti lock system can be extremely expensive.

These instructions were performed on a 91 3000GT VR4, so I can not guarantee you that they will transfer over exactly to any other year, however I would expect that they should be at least the same for all 1st generation VR4's and Stealth RT/TT's.

Shorting pins 2 <-> 18 and 9 <-> 27 works for 2nd gen '94 TT as well. --bjmsam 18:10, 17 August 2010 (EDT)

Update for 97(+?)VR4 with the 88pin connector (by ulrich):
Wiring diagrams seem to be nonexistent for this 88 pin connector. A very simple fix has been posted below.

Update these instructions have been confirmed to work on a 94 VR4

Step 1[edit]

Disconnect your battery (you should do this before any modification that you do to your car).

Step 2[edit]

Disassemble the passenger side rear cover. You can find instructions on how to remove it on stealth316 at the following link. On that page on stealth316 you will also see an arrow pointing to the ABS control unit.

Step 3[edit]

Once you have found the ABS control unit you will need to unplug the connector from the unit.

Step 4[edit]

91VR4,94TT Now you need to short the pins that are labeled in the diagram below. By shorting the pins in the diagram you will effectively fool the car into thinking everything in the ABS system is ok and thus causing the ABS light to never come on. Just to insure there's no confusion, the pins in the diagram are as pictured from the connector on the ABS unit itself, when shorting the pins in the actual harness you'll be looking at a mirror image of the diagram below. 3000gt abs.jpg

Step 5[edit]

Once you have got these pins shorted all that is left to do is to zip tie the connector against something underneath the cover that will keep it from vibrating around and then put everything back together.
